HINOMARU: In the wake of the Japanese tsunami of 2011, we created this piece to help raise money for the Red Cross. Each day there are hundreds of earthquakes in Japan, mostly small and almost imperceptible, but they happen on a daily basis. We wrote some code that collects the data from the Japanese Meteorological Agency, and shakes the color registration of the Japanese flag according to the size of the latest tremor. The bigger the earthquake, the bigger the Hinomaru shakes. Click on the image to see it in action.
